Zrico AI and the Zrico Assistant
Zrico AI picks a Claude model for each message so quick tasks use little of your AI budget. The Zrico Assistant picks your firm's tools for you and cites its sources.

Zrico AI, powered by Claude, is a choice in the model menu, not a separate AI model. For each message it picks one of Anthropic’s Claude models, so quick tasks use very little of your firm’s shared AI budget and harder work still gets a careful answer.
How it picks
| What you ask | Model |
|---|---|
| Greetings, quick edits of text you give it, a definition or a date, a short routine message, “how much of my budget have I used?” | Claude Haiku |
| Most legal, tax and accounting work: drafting, explaining a rule, reviewing a clause | Claude Sonnet, with lighter thinking |
| Hard, many-sided work you ask to be thorough about | Claude Sonnet, with full thinking |
Each answer ends with a line naming the model that wrote it. Anything involving an attached document, a long conversation or a Pro tool is never sent to Claude Haiku. Write “use opus”, “use sonnet” or “use haiku” in a message to choose yourself, or pick Claude Sonnet, Opus or Haiku in the menu as before.
Zrico AI always uses Claude, processed in the United States, even if your firm turned on GPT or Gemini. In our tests it cost about a quarter less for the same work, and much less for teams that ask many quick questions. Ordinary answers were slightly less detailed than Claude Sonnet at full thinking, but every one was usable as a draft.
The Zrico Assistant
In the model menu under General, the Zrico Assistant chooses your firm’s tools for you and cites its sources:
- attached documents, and (with Zrico Pro) your vaults: questions across a vault, a chronology, or a new vault from files attached in the chat;
- redline compare and cite-check, when your firm has them;
- web search, if your owner turned it on;
- “How much of my AI budget have I used?”, “Put this in Word” (or PDF), and “Contact support”.
Anything that changes data, such as creating a vault or sending a support request, is shown to you first and only happens after you confirm in your next message. Word files are made in your own browser from your workspace; PDFs use your browser’s “Save as PDF”.
Turn it on or off, and choose the default (owner)
- In the dashboard, go to Settings > Zrico AI.
- Choose On or Off, and the Default model for new chats: Zrico AI, or any model your firm has on.
- Select Save.
It is on by default; new chats start with Claude Sonnet unless the owner picks Zrico AI as the default. Changes reach the workspace within a minute and are recorded in your audit log, as are the tools the assistant uses (the tool’s name only, never what was asked).
