Getting started
Two-factor authentication
Turn on two-factor authentication with an authenticator app, save your backup codes, and what to do if you lose your phone.
- Who:
- Everyone (required for owners and admins)
- Where:
- Dashboard
- Updated:
Two-factor authentication asks for a 6-digit code from an app on your phone each time you sign in, so a stolen password isn’t enough to get into your firm’s account.
It is required for owners and admins and available to everyone. Because the workspace signs you in through the dashboard, the same code protects both.
Turn it on
- In the dashboard, open Security (under Account in the sidebar).
- In Two-factor authentication, confirm your password to start.
- Scan the QR code with an authenticator app such as 1Password, Authy, Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator. If you can’t scan it, enter the setup key shown instead.
- Enter the 6-digit code from the app and select Turn on.
- Save your backup codes somewhere safe, such as your password manager. They are shown once, and each one works once.
Turning two-factor on or off signs you out on your other devices.
If you’re an owner or admin
Until you turn it on, the dashboard sends you to Security with the message “Owners and admins must turn on two-factor authentication before continuing.” You can’t turn it off while you are an owner or admin.
Lost your phone
At the code prompt, choose Use a backup code and enter one of your saved codes. Then set up two-factor again on your new phone from Security.
If you have no backup codes left, email support@zrico.com from your account’s email address and we’ll help you get back in.
