Cancel and export your data
How the owner cancels, what happens to the workspace and your data afterwards, and how to download an export of everything before it is deleted.

You can cancel any time from the dashboard. Only an owner can cancel.
Cancel a paid subscription
- In the dashboard, go to Billing and find Danger zone at the bottom. (The same option is at the bottom of Settings.)
- Select Cancel subscription, read what will happen, and confirm.
Your workspace stays available until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Until then you can change your mind: the Billing page shows Cancellation scheduled with Undo cancel.
Cancel during the free trial
On Billing, choose Cancel the trial. You won’t be charged. The workspace keeps working until the last day of the trial and is then paused; you can undo the cancellation until then. If you want a copy of your data, request an export (below) before the trial ends or any time until the workspace is deleted, 30 days after.
After the subscription ends
- The workspace stops, and nobody can sign in to it.
- Your data is deleted 30 days later. We email the owners the date. Until then the owner can still sign in to the dashboard and export everything.
- Deleted data can remain in our encrypted backups for up to 13 months, until those backups are removed automatically.
Export your data
The owner can download a copy of everything in the workspace at any time, including during the 30 days after the subscription ends.
- In the dashboard, go to Settings > Data export (or Settings, then Export your data).
- Tick the box and select Request export. You may be asked to sign in again first.
- Copy the password that appears and keep it safe (a password manager is ideal). It’s shown only once. We don’t keep it, so we can’t show it again or recover it; if it’s lost, request a new export.
- We email you when the export is ready, usually within the hour. Come back to Settings > Data export and select Download.
The export is one ZIP file, encrypted with AES-256, containing:
- every conversation, by person, as Markdown (opens in any text editor or Word), JSON and, where available, PDF;
- the files people uploaded to chats;
- review tables (Zrico Pro) as CSV, every answer with its quote, and the original documents;
- your assistants, firm settings and member list;
- the audit log as a CSV file;
- the raw data (JSON) for importing into another system. Passwords, sign-in tokens and stored keys are never included.
To open it, use 7-Zip or WinZip on Windows, or Keka or The Unarchiver on a Mac, and enter the password. (The built-in Windows and Mac tools can’t open AES-256 encrypted files.) Inside is export.zip with everything; it’s packed this way so that not even file names are visible without the password.
Good to know:
- Only the owner can request and download an export, and each download is recorded in the audit log. Admins see that an export exists but can’t download it.
- The file is built inside your firm’s own workspace and is deleted automatically 7 days after it’s ready. Our staff can’t open it: it’s encrypted with a password only you have.
- You can request up to 3 exports a day, one at a time.
